A great farmhouse wall decor idea is to stick up two or more wood planks on the wall. Attach photos on long pieces of thread using little pinchers, like clothes on a drying rack.

It creates a charming farmhouse look. In the example above, they used family photos on the wood planks. It is well paired with a small art frame and two buckets of dry branches and leaves.

It’s unique and adds a special touch, reminding you of family.

Your walls could be beautifully adorned with a statement clock. It creates a focal point that is not only practical but also serves as decor.

In addition, a vintage or distressed clock complements the farmhouse style perfectly. It adds to the rustic charm of the space.

It’s a great way to deviate from typical frames and art that we usually hang on the wall. I think choosing a clock with a unique look can truly transform your wall. You can place it anywhere you want.

As the example shows, even under your stairs wall, it could look great.

To conform to farmhouse wall decor, why not add a crochet plank to your wall? Place it in your entry area or living room. It can serve multiple purposes, such as hanging keys or displaying miniature art frames.

The example above shows how well it blends with the rest of the decor. The bucket of plants and a framed picture just complete the look.

For a rustic style, choose a wooden plank. If you have frames that aren’t hangable, simply attach them with small pieces of thread and glue them to the back. The finish result is neat, easy, and adds rustic charm.

4) Brass and vintage decor on open shelves

Consider including open shelves and displaying rustic elements like the kitchen here has done.

This setup nicely showcases little brass pots of different sizes, along with vintage art and porcelain dishes.

We also see a few books and a nice touch of wood with the miniature drawer, all sitting perfectly on the shelves. Notice on the first shelf, there are a few hooks on which some mugs are displayed.

A unique touch is to wrap an apron with a different texture or pattern around the hooks, which also adds to the decor and looks amazing as a whole.

With this kind of decor you can really mix and match, and there isn’t just one right way of doing it. Have faith, let your intuition play a role and get creative, it’s going to turn out like this—very beautiful.

Take a look at farmers markets and pick up a few wildflowers like blue-eyed Susans, sunflowers, and lavender.

These would look amazing in a bouquet placed in a woven basket that you can hang on hooks on your wall.

It adds that charming touch we aim for in farmhouse style, and it’s incredibly easy. Not only does it bring that touch of color, but it also pairs beautifully with wood and woven materials, enhancing the rustic aesthetic.

This might seem a little uncommon, but I promise it fits the farmhouse aesthetic perfectly. There isn’t a right way to decorate your home, especially with farmhouse decor—it’s all about having fun with it.

One great way to achieve a rustic look is to install a few medium or small-sized vintage window grilles, as shown in the picture.

It looks fantastic, and the effect is even more enhanced with the vintage sconce light placed between the two grilles.

This combination adds exactly the ancient ambiance we’re aiming for, making the room both charming and reminiscent of a rustic, vintage style.

7) Botanical prints

There isn’t a better way to echo the sentiment of nature, the calm and peacefulness of the outdoors than by bringing in a few prints that represent exactly that.

Botanical prints are perfect for this—they’re simple yet very natural and add charm and timeless appeal to the farmhouse style.

You can hang them all around the house, and they look great in any frame. In this picture, they are displayed in wooden frames, but you can opt for metal or vintage frames if you prefer. Either way, they’ll look fantastic.

No, there is never enough wood material in farmhouse decorating. If you want it all, you could even bring in raw wood and place it in a few shelves where you think it’s appropriate.

In this example, the shelving is brilliant—it’s separated into different sizes. You could even create this yourself by using regular shelves, forming squares and rectangles to create a unique space that suits your needs.

Inside each block, you could incorporate a few distressed elements, or even, as you see, a pile of wood logs. This is something that will be instantly noticed and definitely complements the natural appeal of rustic and farmhouse aesthetics.

Here’s a fun DIY project using Dollar Tree items! Grab those long wood signs from Dollar Tree—As the example above, 8 of them were used.

First, glue two signs together with Industrial wood E6000 from Walmart to create three shelves, using two planks for each one.

Then, nail two planks on each side on the back to hold the shelves in place. Finish it off with a coat of white chalk paint, and distress it with truffle chalk paint for that rustic look.

It’s a lovely farmhouse wall decor, you definitely should try!

10) The illusion of a rustic window

Why not create the illusion of a window on your wall? You can put up a distressed window frame along with wooden curtains on each side, as beautifully done in the example.

Stick up letters on the glass to create a message, and the great thing about this is that you can always update the message to suit your preference.

It’s highly customizable; for instance, you could paint the window frame in colors like light baby blue, green, or light brown.

To enhance the distressed aesthetic, you can scrub off a bit of the paint once it dries so it matches the farmhouse style. As a bonus tip, you can attach dried branches and leaves in a bouquet to add an extra charming touch.

11) Broderie Art

Another charming farmhouse wall decor idea is to hang up broderie art or acrylic art on round wooden hoops. It looks very ancient and brings a cozy vibe to the room.

It’s very special and reminiscent of a grandmother’s house, which often serves as the blueprint for this entire aesthetic.

You can either create it yourself or source unique pieces, as this type of handmade art adds color and beautifully adds to the cottage farmhouse aesthetic we’re aiming for.

In this example, the frames feature beautifully crafted roses, either painted or stitched, and it’s simply stunning.

Why not attach a wall-mounted wire basket shelf where you can add some greenery and other accessories of your choice?

As shown in this example, the shelf is located in the kitchen, so it’s common to see kitchen items like brushes and aprons.

It’s a nice way to store a few things, but you could also display decor pieces alongside a rustic-looking frame, which complements the overall look beautifully.

At the end…

Remember, metal and wood, especially distressed wood, are the materials that truly embody the farmhouse aesthetic. It’s really all about finding pieces that you already have at home—like the frame above, which you could even DIY if you’d like. That’s the beauty of farmhouse decorating it allows you to create a charming space on a budget!
